GOLDEN SCHOLARS REQUIREMENTS APPLICATION

To apply to the Golden Scholars bridge program, student must:

  • Submit a complete FIU Undergraduate Admission application and the Golden Scholars bridge program application
  • Submit ACT and SAT scores to the Office of Undergraduate Admission

    • NOTE: Please submit a minimum 18 ACT composite score or 980 SAT composite score. Satisfying these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission into the program.
  • Complete both the 2017 -2018 and the 2018 – 2019 FAFSA.

    • NOTE: The 2018 -2019 FAFSA will be available on October 1, 2017. Students are encouraged to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA website).
  • Complete the Florida Residency Affidavit Form with required documentation. Please be prepared to upload residency documents when submitting your online admissions application.
  • Out of the three topics provided, submit two (2) 500 word essays on the following topics. (The short answer questions listed on the Golden Scholars bridge program application cannot be supplemented for the essay questions listed below).

    • Why do you want to be a Golden Scholars bridge program participant? (Be sure to detail your educational and career goals. Also, a strong desire to succeed should be evident in your statement).
    • Why FIU? Why is FIU Worlds Ahead? (This is a two part question and does not qualify for the two topics that must be submitted)
    • What do you feel you can contribute to FIU?
  • Submit three (3) letter of recommendation on Official Letter Head

    • One from a counselor or school administrator
    • Two from core subject area teachers (Math, English/Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies)
